October's Book Of The Month
Almost Alice by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor was an interesting book. It is very real and true, and I can deeper understand the situations that teenage girls face today. I would have never imagined some of their problems. These are topics that are very important to young women and I know that they will enjoy.
Alice is a great friend and " a shoulder to lean on" especially in tough situations. Never before have I read about someone that is as loyal, caring, and supporting as Alice, to her best friends. Others are always on her mind. In Almost Alice, Alice learns more about herself and tries to further understand herself and life. She also explores the depth of her relationships with her best friend Pamela and Elizabeth.
She then wonders if her friends are as good to her as she is to them. Sometimes she is jealous and questions their actions, but in the end finds out that her friends really need her. Alice is brave, honest, loyal, and supporting. Alice is a shoulder that her friends can always lean on especially when problems occur.
